Survival - lavieannerose
St. Martin's Cross, Iona

Isn’t surviving just nice?

I’m still here to remember your eyes

I’m hanging in there

I feel you everywhere

I’m still here to watch the sun rise

We sang “Ten green bottles on the wall

But one after the other had to fall”

Dad, I feel like the one last green bottle

That’s still hanging on the wall

You took my hand and we prayed

Before the close of the day

From all ill dreams defend our sight

From our fears of the night

Whenever we said good bye

You gave me your sailor’s advice

One hand for the boat to care for others

One hand for yourself to survive

I play your harp, smoke your pipe, wear your cap

I read your bible as my sailing map

I see your loving eyes

As my Northern Star

Shining from afar
